Drop in for Modern dance!

Finally I made time for my own dancing aswell. I looked up different dancestudios, which was difficult since most of the webpages are in chinese...
But yesterday I found Zy dance studio, called them, and a few hours later I was in dance class.
It was soooooo nice to dance just for myself agains. Almost so good that my eyes are tearing up actually.

Modern dance with Walker was the class I attended last night and I was very happy when showed that it wasn't lyrical jazz (which of course also is so muc fun, but I don't like when they mixe up genrer names and confuses students) but actually modern.
Apperantly there was a modern technique class just before with the same teacher so all the other dancers had just taken this and was continueing right into next one. I will do that next time aswell so I get a longer section, while I am already there and also to continue improving my own modern technique.

Of course there where a possiblity to work on that to in the class I took , though focus were more on travelling and combinations. For example, we did:
  • Adagio across the floor, cunningham-style
  • Jumping and low runs, like I've earlier done i Graham class
  • Releasebased diagonals with rolling and drop and recover like Limon
  • Freestyle trix across the floor a la subjazz, so I got to show off with some flick flacks
= so a fun cocktail!
The cooldown was quite interesting. We hang upside down over the ballet barrs, like reverse sitting on a chair, just releasing he upperbody and let gravity longer the space between the virtebras. Felt good!

Here is a sneakpeak on the teacher from outside the window. Kind of fun that he was improvisation to swedish music.
